Not everyone person or family has been called by God to adopt or foster a child(ren), but it is a biblical mandate for everyone to do something to aid orphans. (See Biblical Theology of Orphan Care LINK) That said, there are many ways one can get involved with assisting and supporting orphans and vulnerable children and the families that care for them. We call this form or support Wrap Around Care.
Below are some practical ways that you can step up and step into a supportive role for an adoptive or fostering family to help them through the many challenges that they will face. It will also be helpful to read about the Unique Challenges of Adoptive and Foster Families prior to beginning to provide Wrap Around Care.

After reading this list you might wonder to yourself how doing these simple things could make an impact on an adoptive or foster family, but the incredible and often overlooked thing is that the impact you are making is far beyond what you could even imagine.
You see, when you step up and support a family in any of these ways you are freeing up time in the family’s hectic and busy schedule so that they can focus more time building a relationship with the child and offering the child the most valuable thing that the have – their time and energy.
Because, at the center of all the business of this family’s lives is a child who is working to get through their past trauma and move on into a healthy state of mind in a healthy environment. Did you know that one simple meal can make this kind of impact?
